Determination of Titratable Acidity in Milk
Requirements (Instruments, Chemicals & Other) :
- Burette
- Measuring cylinder
- Pipette – 10ml
- Beaker/Conical flask
- 0.1N NaOH solution
- Phenolphthalein indicator solution
Procedure :
- Take 10ml milk sample in a conical flask.
- Add few drops of Phenolphthalein in the sample.
- Fill the burette with 0.1 N standard NaOH solution and titrate sample till the appearance of pink colour.
- Note down the amount of titrant used to reach end point
- Calculate using formula:
